Getting Started - Connecting to a FTP Server Print E-mail

Quick Start Tutorial ľ Connecting to your webserver.



Step 1: Select 'New Connection' from the New Connection Dialog


Step 2: A New Connection dialog will appear. You can enter the details of the FTP server you are wanting to connect to here. More details are available here.

Enter a name you would like to call the connection
  1. Enter the host address of the FTP server (usually something like ftp.yourserver.com
  2. Enter the port number of the FTP server (usually 21)
  3. Leave this option unchecked
  4. Leave this option checked unless you would like to be prompted for the password when you connect the FTP server.
  5. Enter your username for the ftp server
  6. Enter your password for the ftp server
  7. Leave this option checked
  8. Leave this option as 3
  9. Optionally enter a comment here.
Press OK


Step 3: Now that you have created your new connection, you can connect to the FTP server. Either double click on the new connection you have just created or click once and select the connect button.


Step 4: If all has gone well you should now be connected to the FTP server.
  1. Displays the folders on your system in a tree view (just like windows explorer)
  2. Displays the files and folders on your system in a tree view (just like windows explorer)
  3. Displays the files and folders on the remote system (FTP server).
  4. Displays the status of the current connection.
Transferring files

You can now drag and drop between the remote server (3) and your local system (1 & 2)

Another way of transferring is to use the arrows in the local and remote toolbars. Just select the files and folders by clicking once with your mouse and then pressing the arrow key. Neomesh FTP will automatically start transferring the files between the two systems.
