Options - Setting Compression & Quality Print E-mail

When converting, joining or creating GIF animations you may need to set some other options. For example you may want to set the GIF compression, TIF compression, image quality or the transparency.

Step 1 - Setting the options

If you have not done already, click the Settings tab or press the button.

  1. The GIF Compression option allows you to specify how the GIF image or animation will be encoded. The standard is LZW, but you may also select RLE or None.
  2. The TIF Compression option allows you to specify how the TIF image will be encoded. By default this option is set to LZW but you can select other options. For example FAX4 produces a small file size and a 2 color image (B&W) and uses dithering to produce grayscale intensities.
  3. The JPEG/TIF Quality box is to set the quality of JPEG and TIF images. Setting this value to a higher level produces a better quality image but also increases the file size.
  4. This option changes a color in the image to a transparent color. When the Use Transparency box is checked, the transparency button and color bar are enabled. Clicking on the Transparency button opens a color chooser dialog. Select the color you want to be transparent and then press the OK button. You will notice the color will be displayed in the settings color window.
