With WinGraphic being able to convert between 86 image formats, WinGraphic is ideal for being used as a batch converter.
In this tutorial I am going to show you how to convert some jpeg (jpg) images to bitmap (bmp).
You can download our images here or you can use your own. If you use ours, you must first unzip them into a folder before starting this tutorial
The Tutorial - Task 1

Start WinGraphic and select 'Batch Conversion' from the New Project dialog and click OK.
You can add the files individually but in this tutorial I am going to add a whole folder.
Click on the button. You will see a file browser. Browse to the folder where your images are that you want to convert, select the folder and then press OK.
WinGraphic should have added all of the convertible images in that folder into the image list.
WinGraphic has the ability to add subfolders and keep the directory structure when doing a batch conversion. You can select these options from the Preferences menu (Click Edit -> Preferences then select 'Load' and/or 'Save').
Note: WinGraphic does not display the images when doing a batch conversion.
Now we need to set the conversion options for WinGraphic. On the left hand side you should see a box where you can set the options for the conversion.
In the File Output drop down box, select 'bmp'.
Make sure that Batch Naming has been set to prompt. The Prompt setting will popup a dialog if it finds filenames with the same name as what is being converted.
Next we need to set the folder where the images are going to be saved. click on the button and a directory browser should popup. Select the folder where you want to save your new images. I created a folder called 'Converted Pictures'.
Note: You should always save your converted images into a different folder than the source folder. This will make your images easier to find and you would not accidentally overwrite any of your originals.
Click OK on this dialog. You will see that the folder location will be in the 'File Output' window.
You should now be ready to start the conversion. If you screen looks something like the picture on the left, click on the button.
WinGraphic will popup a dialog asking "You are about to convert and save all your images, continue?", select OK to start the conversion. When the conversion has finished, browse to the folder where you wanted them to be saved, you should have a whole lot of bmp images in this folder.
The Tutorial - Task 2
If you successfully completed the above task, lets try add a couple of effects and transformations to the conversion.
Since you already have images in the 'Converted Pictures' folder, we will select 'Overwrite' in Conversion Options entry box. WinGraphic will overwrite your images in the output folder without prompting if it finds one with the same name.
In the operations and effects box, click on the [+] button. This will popup a list of effects and transformations that can be applied to the batch conversion. Select 'Resize' then 'Resize'. Enter the information so it looks like the picture on the right hand side. Press OK. You should see the text 'Resize' added into the operations effects box.
Next lets add a raise effect to the images. Again click on the [+] button and select 'Decorate' then 'Raise'. Enter 5 into all of the entry boxes. It should end up looking like the picture on the right. Click OK. You should see the text 'Raise' added into the operations effects box.
At any time you can edit these values by double clicking on the text or by pressing the 'Configure Selected Image Option' button. You are also able to remove and arrange your effects by using the other buttons.
You should now be ready to start the conversion again. Once again click on the button. It will ask you if you want to carry on with the conversion, select OK. The result should look something like the following image.
